The Oasis Shriners of Charlotte, North Carolina, recently embarked on a memorable Potentate’s Trip to Honolulu, Hawaii, led by Illustrious Sir Chris Hall and Lady Laura. This journey, held from April 19 to 25, brought together over 40 nobles and guests for a week of fellowship, cultural exploration, and a shared commitment to the Shriners’ fraternal and philanthropic missions.
A highlight of the trip was the group’s visit to Shriners Children’s Hawaiʻi. The tours were graciously led by Illustrious Marc Rubenstein, P.P., Illustrious Lee Gordon, P.P., and Illustrious Mark Leo, P.P.—all former Chairmen of the Board of Governors at the hospital. Their insights provided everyone with a deeper understanding of the hospital’s operations and its impact on children’s lives throughout Hawaii and the Pacific.
After the hospital tour, the Oasis Shriners kicked back at the Aloha Shriners Beach Club, soaking up the sun and taking in the gorgeous Waimānalo views. It was the perfect chance to unwind, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company in true island style—complete with plenty of laughter, food, and that unbeatable Aloha spirit.
Beyond this, the group immersed themselves in the vibrant culture and scenic beauty of Oʻahu. Their itinerary included visits to historic sites such as Iolani Palace, the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, and the Dole Plantation. They also experienced a traditional Hawaiian luau, offering a taste of the islands’ rich traditions and hospitality.
This Potentate’s Trip was more than just a getaway—it was a great example of what being a Shriner is all about: brotherhood, fun, and giving back. From meaningful moments at Shriners Children’s Hawaiʻi to beachside laughs with fellow nobles, the trip brought everyone closer together while staying true to the mission.
